The story so far …

Our young hero, Stephen, aged 12, watched spellbound the Anthony Asquith film of Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest and, captivated above all by the language, determined to know more about the author. The local mobile library service furnished him with copies of Oscar Wilde’s comic plays and, next, The Complete Works. Finally, he happened upon a book with the strange title The Trials of Oscar Wilde by one H. Montgomery Hyde.
